NCL to
Reflag and Rename Pride of Aloha
NCL Corporation
announced today that it will reflag and rename Pride of Aloha and
launch the ship as Norwegian Sky, offering three- and four-day
Bahamas cruises from Miami commencing July 14.
The
2,002-passenger ship, built in 1999, will return to the NCL
international fleet, and will be outfitted with NCL's Freestyle 2.0 enhancements.
The new
itineraries are available with fares from $229 per person for an
inside stateroom and from $329 per person for a balcony stateroom.

Royal
Caribbean Announces '09-10 Mexican Riviera Cruises
Royal Caribbean
will offer its first Mexican Riviera cruises out of San Diego in
September and November 2009, when the Radiance of the Seas sails a
four-day itinerary that calls at Cabo San Lucas and a five-day
itinerary that calls at Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. Royal Caribbean
has previously launched ships from San Diego for Panama Canal cruises
but not for Mexican Riviera itineraries. Royal Caribbean is also
operating Mexican Riviera cruises from Los Angeles on the Mariner of
the Seas for the 2009-2010 season; the Mariner will offer seven-day,
round-trip cruises from Los Angeles calling at Cabo San Lucas, Puerto
Vallarta and Mazatlan.

Million Europeans Take Cruises
A record 4 million
Europeans took cruise holidays last year, according to the latest
statistics unveiled Thursday by the European Cruise Council (ECC) in
Brussels. The ECC 2007 "Markets Report" shows how rapidly
cruise holidays are growing in popularity for European travelers.
Five years ago, 2.6 million Europeans took a cruise holiday. By 2006,
that number had grown to 3.4 million, and 17 percent growth in 2007
increased the figure to a record high of 4 million.

Increases Existing Fuel Surcharge
The escalating
cost of fuel throughout the world has prompted MSC Cruises to
increase the existing fuel surcharge on cruise fares.
The current
fuel surcharge of $6 per guest per day will be increased to $8 per
guest per day ($16 per stateroom). The new surcharge will only apply
to new bookings made July 1 and onwards and will be applicable only
on cruise departures after Dec. 1.
HAL's New
England Cruises Feature New Quebec Ports
Holland America
Line will debut three new ports in Quebec on its 13-, 14- and 15-day
cruises to Canada and New England between May and October 2009. Ports
include Gaspé, Baie-Comeau and Sept-îles.
Together, the
Eurodam and Maasdam will offer 21 Canada and New England cruises from
Boston, Montreal, Quebec City, New York and Ft. Lauderdale.

Princess
Debuts 2009-10 Caribbean/Mexican Cruises
Princess Cruises
has announced a new 2009-2010 season of seven- to 14-day cruises to
the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera.
In the Caribbean,
Princess will sail six ships on 13 itineraries with 129 departures
visiting more than 25 ports. Ruby Princess will take over the line's
10-day Eastern and Southern Caribbean itineraries, offering some of
the less-visited ports in the region.

Latitudes, the
quarterly magazine for NCL Corp.s repeat customers, is now
being issued exclusively online. Besides being more environmentally
friendly, the new format allows for more features and articles, NCL said.

Radiance charts return to S. America
Royal Caribbean
Internationals Radiance of the Seas will return to South
America for a second consecutive season in 2009-10. The ship will
operate nine sailings of 11 to 15 nights, with tour add-ons of four
nights available to Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls. |
Six cruises will
round the horn of the continent. These 12- to 14-night voyages
between Valparaíso and Buenos Aires include the Chilean
Fjords. Three of the departures provide an overnight stay in BA.

Says People Still Traveling, Just Differently
Despite U.S.
economy woes, American Express Consumer Travel Network saw a
13-percent spike in business for the first quarter of 2008.
Amexs Lynne Biggar, senior vice president, said people are
still taking trips, theyre just doing it differently.
We
arent seeing people who aren't traveling, we are just seeing
changes in how they do it, Biggar said. People are going
on shorter trips ... are spending a little less, but theyre
still traveling."
