If you haven't done so already, now is the time to book your 2009 Cruise Vacation.  As we mentioned in our last issue, some people will wait until rates go back up before they book their next cruise. I guess it's human nature to "wait and see"  or  "think about it", but in this case if you snooze, you lose!  Rates have been very low for a couple of months, and they remain low today, but as demand builds for 2009 sailings (and it will!)  rates will start back up again.

NOW is the time to book your 2009 cruise and I want to book your cruise for you!  If you enjoy our newsletter, please allow us the privilege of being your cruise booking agency.  Remember,  we work for you for free!  Thank you!

Video Talk With The Cruiseman.  The Cruiseman is now on line with ooVoo.  If you would like to speak with The Cruiseman live via video conference CLICK HERE.

Worldwide Destinations: Central America & The Panama Canal

The warm region between Mexico and South America possesses remarkable culture, spectacular scenery - and one of the world's historic engineering marvels, the Panama Canal. Lush tropical rain forests and abundant colorful wildlife make Central America a prime cruise destination for people seeking places off the beaten path and close to nature.

Although a few of today's largest cruise ships can not pass through the locks of the Panama Canal, most major cruise lines offer sailings that include this unique passage along with visits to several Central American and Caribbean ports of call. A day-long passage through the 51-mile-long canal transits three locks and passes through some of the region's most beautiful scenery.

Some lines operate Central American/Panama Canal cruises throughout the year, but September through April is the most popular season for these itineraries. Many Panama Canal cruises last from 10 to 25 days or more, though some are as short as a week. Repositioning voyages between the Atlantic and Caribbean waters and the Pacific and Alaska also usually go through the Panama Canal and include Central America visits, as do many world cruise itineraries.

Carnival Rolls Out Network TV Ad Campaign, New Slogan

Carnival Cruise Lines' new network TV advertising campaign kicks off Dec. 25 with two 30-second spots designed to evoke the kind of unexpected, inclusive and spirited fun that underlies the Carnival vacation experience, according to Jim Berra, Carnival's senior vice president of marketing and CMO. Part of a new "Fun for all. All for fun," branding campaign, the ads feature two recently held events during which the cruise line set Guinness World Records for the world's largest inflatable beach ball and the world's largest piñata.

"Fun is more important today than ever," said Ruben Rodriguez, executive vice president of marketing and guest experience at Carnival. "These new spots capture a sense of genuine, spontaneous fun which is the same kind of experience that makes a Carnival cruise such a memorable vacation."

Berra added that the new commercial campaign is intended to differentiate and sharpen Carnival's brand of fun. In the past, he said, Carnival left the interpretation of fun up to the consumer. The new commercials instead convey a specific type of fun -- unexpected, gregarious, inclusive and memorable.

The new commercials are scheduled to air nationally for five weeks on ABC, CBS and NBC, as well as in select local markets on FOX. They will also be running on several cable networks, in movie theaters and on various online channels.

MSC Cruises Christens Fantasia

MSC Cruises christened its new flagship, the MSC Fantasia, in Naples, Italy at an event featuring internationally acclaimed artists with Neapolitan origins -- Renzo Arbore and the Orchestra Italiana, Lucio Dalla and Pino Daniele.

And in MSC Cruises tradition, Sophia Loren cut the ceremonial ribbon that released the bottle of champagne, which broke across the bow of the new ship.

De Jorio Design International, a leading naval architecture firm, designed FSC Fantasia. The ship combines traditional Italian elegance with ground-breaking technological features, all dedicated to superior guest comfort and environmental protection.

"I am immensely proud that the christening of this exceptional vessel is taking place in the extraordinary city of Naples," said Pierfrancesco Vago, CEO of MSC Crociere, before the ceremony. "MSC Fantasia is not only a beautiful ship but also a triumph of environmentally-friendly design and technological innovation, where every step taken on board holds the promise of exciting new experiences."

Carnival Dream Unveiled

Carnival has unveiled a new series of never-before-seen renderings of the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream -- the largest "Fun Ship" ever constructed set to debut Sept. 21, 2009 -- along with an entertaining and informative new blog by senior cruise director John Heald who recently toured the ship during its construction at Italy's Fincantieri shipyard.

The new image gallery and blog are available at www.carnival.com/dream.

Included among the site's new digital renderings are images of the Carnival Dream's Carnival WaterWorks aqua park featuring the longest water slides at sea; a breathtaking nine-deck-high atrium that will provide convenient access to the ship's numerous bars, lounges and nightspots; and Ocean Plaza, a new indoor/outdoor entertainment area offering magnificent ocean vistas. Examples of the ship's décor, including renderings of the dance club, casino, piano bar and dining venues, are also included.

The site also includes a link to an engaging new blog by Heald, who takes readers on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the spectacular new "Fun Ship," displaying his trademark humor while conveying Carnival Dream's unique characteristics.

The Orchestra Has Arrived

Jan 2 - The 92,400-ton MSC Orchestra completed its first transatlantic crossing and arrived at Port Everglades this morning. Even though the ship is almost two years old, MSC is treating its entry into Port Everglades like the launch of a brand-new ship because it's taking the Italian line into a position in the Caribbean.

An Early Christmas Miracle

Routine things we do that are all in a day's work for some of us, for others may be miracles.

A few weeks ago, Coral Princess answered a distress call from a private yacht. It was a fairly routine operation for the Princess crew, but the doctors agree, that if the man hadn't received the medical attention Coral Princess made possible, he wouldn't have lived another 48 hours.
