From your editor

Hey Cruisers!

Ice Storm Blues!  We returned from our cruise aboard the Carnival Fantasy on Jan 13th only to run head on into the huge ice storm that was going on here in Springfield, MO.  Everything was frozen over, trees were down everywhere, power was off, and it was a mess! We were finally able to get into our office last Tuesday (1/16) only to find out that our phone lines were down, leaving us with no phones or internet.  We had to work from our cell phone for 2 days!  If you tried to contact us by phone or email and you have not heard back yet, please try again.

Carnival Fantasy Cruise.  We took a group of 22 people on the Fantasy 1/8 - 5 nighter from New Orleans.  The Fantasy is the 3rd oldest ship in Carnival's fleet, but she is in great condition, and the food was outstanding! It's really hard to believe for such an inexpensive cruise that we would be offered filet mignon, prime rib, lobster, chateaubriand, New York steaks, and some other wonderful choices. (I can't remember them all).  Everybody in our group was very impressed with the quality of the food service aboard the Fantasy.

You may remember as far back as our Nov. 27th Newsletter we were offering this cruise to you with rates starting at just $253pp.  Remember, we said that it was cheaper than staying home?  This was the cruise we were talking about.

We stopped at Costa Maya & Cozumel, MX.  Everybody that has been in the Western Caribbean has been to Cozumel. I can report that the island is in pretty good condition after the hurricanes of '05. We could see where they are still dredging up the chunks of concrete from one of the destroyed piers. What a job!  We had lunch at Poncho's Backyard. We highly recommend this delightful "authentic" resturant. The food and service was excellent.

Costa Maya is a nice new stop that was pretty much created just for cruise ships. At the pier there is a large swimming pool, a couple of restaurants and dozens of very attractive shops. We did not venture out on any excursions at Costa Maya, electing to stay in this beautiful area at the pier. The area was clean and had a festive atmosphere.

Deal of the WeekFreedom of the Seas  Feb. 4th sailing from Miami.  Just $599pp;  $589pp for seniors!  (+ the pesky Govt. tax of $46.72pp). CLICK HERE for more on this outstanding deal.
