RCI Adds Oasis Inaugural Sailings
Royal Caribbean International

inaugural season: a seven-night inaugural Eastern Caribbean

Carnival Early
Saver gives up to 25% off
Carnival Cruise Lines new Early
Saver plan gives fares as much as 25% lower than the
best generally available rates and provides protection if rates later
drop below what the customer originally paid.
Early Saver rates will be offered
up to three months prior to sailing for cruises of five days or fewer
and up to five months prior to sailing for longer voyages.
The special fares apply to all
stateroom types, including suites, and to both individual and group bookings.
The Early Saver rate protection
feature provides that if a lower Carnival advertised rate becomes
available after the booking is made, a rate adjustment can be
requested and the line will issue the difference in the form of a
non-refundable shipboard credit. The lower fare must be for the same
ship, sailing date, room category and number of passengers.
When booking an Early Saver fare,
customers are able to choose a specific stateroom. The standard
required deposit is immediately non-refundable at time of booking,
with changes outside the standard penalty period requiring a $50 fee.

STX sees refurbishment
demand rising
In light of new shipping rules
and regulations, STX Europes Lifecycle Services division
predicts stronger demand for retrofits and refurbishments, as well as
significant growth in vessel modernizations and lengthenings.
There is tremendous growth
in the future demand of lifecycle services, as the newbuildings of
earlier decades will need upgrades. Environmental awareness is also
an important driver, as well as cutting operational costs, said
Vesa Marttinen, vp Lifecycle Services.

All Their Dreams Come True
- Sort of
It would be hard to find a home
port city that's been more enthusiastic about their cruise business
than Mobile, Alabama. Almost as soon as Carnival put their first ship
there in 2004, they've been excited about expanding their cruise
business. First they wanted a larger ship, and then they wanted more itineraries.
This year, Mobile will realize
their dream of a larger ship when Carnival replaces Holiday with
Fantasy in November, representing a 41% increase in capacity. Now
Carnival has made their other dream come true - at least partially -
by announcing Fantasy will sail some 7-day cruises from Mobile in 2010.
Another cruise ship jumper
rescued at sea
Several Australian media outlets
this morning are reporting that a man has been rescued after leaping
from a P&O Cruises vessel sailing in the South Pacific.
The online Australian says the
22-year-old passenger was plucked from the water early Tuesday after
jumping from P&O Cruises' Pacific Dawn as the ship cruised about
20 miles off the island of Vanuatu.
The news outlet says a staff
member saw the passenger plunge into the water and quickly raised the
alarm. The vessel made a quick turn-around and rescued him within 45 minutes.
The Age of Australia reports the
passenger has been examined by a doctor and is uninjured. The outlet
quotes a passenger who said she believed the man and his friends had
been partying before he jumped.
