Crystal reveals new additions to Europe lineup in '06
Crystal Cruises unveiled 30 European itineraries for 2006, with 70
ports of call in 27 countries. Crystal added seven-day cruises
in the Mediterranean and the Baltic region, as well as maiden calls
to Ayr and Troon, Scotland; Tripoli, Libya; Gijon, Spain; Trieste,
Italy; Spitsbergen, Norway; La Rochelle, France, and Riga,
Latvia. The 2006 lineup features a new 11-day itinerary
featuring Tripoli and Egypt, which sails between Rome and Athens; a
seven-day Baltic trip from Stockholm to Copenhagen; and the option to
start or end several cruise itineraries in Monte Carlo.
Dawn Princess to sail Mexican Riviera itinerary from San Francisco
Princess Cruises added 12 sailings from northern California to its
Mexican Riviera program aboard the Dawn Princess in 2006-2007.
The 10-night roundtrips from San Francisco add one night to the
itinerary and replace previously scheduled southern Caribbean and
Panama Canal departures, for a total of 20 trips between Sept. 26 and
April 23, 2007. Port calls in Mexico include Acapulco, Cabo San
Lucas, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
SILVERSEA has secured Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, who
will join the line's 2007 world cruise as a lecturer. Hawass is
Egypt's secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, has
a 30-year background in excavation and conservation of some of
Egypt's top monuments and is the man most responsible for bringing
the King Tut exhibit to the United States this year. He is
slated to host a series of presentations aboard the Silver Shadow as
the ship journeys from Dubai to Alexandria in April 2007.
CRYSTAL CRUISES scheduled a call in Israel for the first time
since 1999 in its 2007 cruise lineup. The Crystal Serenity will call
in Ashdod during its 2007 world cruise. The 2007 roster for the
Serenity and the Crystal Symphony offers 152 different ports and 63
itineraries that range from seven to 109 days.
Royal Caribbean/Celebrity is expanding its luggage program, so
passengers ending their cruises in certain ports can now have their
luggage tagged and delivered to their departing airport to be checked
in before they get off their ships. Fees are $10-$20 a passenger.
NCL is proud to announce the names of its two newest ships - Norwegian
Pearl and Norwegian Gem. The ships, previously known as
hull S.669 and S.670, will be Norwegian Jewel class ships and will be
delivered in February 2007 and October 2007 respectively.
Currently under construction at Meyer Werft in Germany, Norwegian
Pearl and Norwegian Gem will feature all the attributes of NCL's
dynamic modern Freestyle Cruising fleet with multiple restaurants,
vibrant public rooms, versatile, family-friendly accommodations and
NCL's popular new style of accommodations - Courtyard Villas - which
along with each ship's two Garden Villas -- make up the biggest, most
luxurious, most innovative suite complexes at sea.
"Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Gem will be the ninth and 10th
big new ships to join the NCL fleet since the fleet modernization
began in late 1999," said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of NCL
Corporation. "Once Norwegian Gem is delivered in 2007, over 80
percent of NCL's capacity will be big, new and modern, keeping NCL on
track to offer the youngest fleet in the industry by 2010."
HAL: Statendam, Amsterdam to visit Asia and the Pacific in '07
Holland America Line is focusing its attention on Asia and the
Pacific in 2007 with several sailings aboard the Statendam and the
Amsterdam. The vessels will take in visits in China, Japan,
Korea, eastern Russia, the South Pacific and a swing through Alaska
with departures between March 22 and Sept. 21, 2007.
Holland America adds spa amenities to guest rooms
Holland America Line is introducing a new line of amenities by Elemis
Aromapure to extend the Greenhouse Spa and Salon concept to its guest
accommodations. The fleetwide rollout starts on Feb. 22 with
the Noordam, when staterooms will be equipped with Time to Spa
miniatures. The effort is part of the line's Signature of Excellence
upgrade program, said Richard Meadows, senior vice president,
marketing and sales. In-room upgrades already completed include the
addition of plush-top mattresses; 250-thread count cotton sheets;
Egyptian cotton towels; magnifying, lighted makeup mirrors; and
massage showerheads. |
