CARNIVAL DREAM Inauguration November 12, 2009 She's a beauty and quite large! Long, pure white and sleek with hallways that go on for miles it seems. The hallways where the staterooms are were exceptionally wide which would be great when luggage is outside the rooms. We were in the family stateroom (2nd deck) oceanview that sleeps 5. The great feature is that this stateroom (#2244) has 2 bathrooms, one has a mini tub/shower and sink, and the other has a shower, sink and commode. What a great feature for families with young children. The beds were truly comfortable and cozy and the design of the room was Carnivals signature of clean lines, great storage and flat screen tv's. There were balconies (Cove balconies) on the 2nd deck that were similar to some balconies on Cunard's Queen Mary and the Voyager class of Royal Caribbean. Actually there are 8 decks of balconies, which I think may be the largest amount in the industry. The décor within the ship is contemporary, not glitzy or gaudy in any way. Very well appointed décor in the dining rooms, 2 stories with lots of booths in both the Scarlet and Crimson dining rooms. Also have a free sushi bar and a steak house charging $30 per person. Marcia Gay Harden was the godmother and the ceremony was enjoyable in the Encore theatre. Found the seats in the balcony to be uncomfortable. One other negative design of the ship is the positioning of the mid-ship galley, which makes it impossible to get to the Scarlet dining room from certain locations on certain floors. Since it is located in the extreme aft of the ship, you must go to the last bank of elevators from any floor and go down to the 3 deck from there. Met lots of people (like us) going up and down in the elevators a number of times. Reminded me of when I was on the Carnival Destiny. The ship does have lots of socializing places and it appeared that the outside decks had many spots to sun and relax the day away. The adult only sanctuary looked oh so inviting even in the rain and wind. The service was terrific as well as the food. Delicious pumpkin soup and lobster and shrimp were the headliners at dinner. Arrived on the ship around 2:30 and never stopped tasting the food until dinner at 7:00 pm. The entertainment was superb (as is always the case with Carnival) - Dancing in the Streets was the main show and then we proceeded to 2 comedy shows later. We did not get to bed until 1:00 a.m. so it was a full day. They were still partying in the clubs but we could not hold out any longer. We had had enough fun for the day. The casino was closed naturally but it looked great. Lots of slots ( 1 and 2 cents machines) and very, very large. The Dream will be an easy ship to sell. Please go on Carnival's website and take a look around. She has a lot of nice features and will accommodate families very nicely.
